Loy Krathong Festival falls on Thursday, 6th November 2014, this year, the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month, which normally falls on a different day each year. In this festival Thai people will show their gratitude to the Goddess of Water for the water they have used and at the same time to ask for her forgiveness for the dirtiness they have caused to it. During the day time they will make their own Krathong from banana leaves and float it along the river. Some also cut their nails and hair and put them into their Krathong together with some coins in a belief that this way they will also float away their bad luck together with their Krathong. In the old days young Thai men and women would take this opportunity to meet and celebrate the end of the harvest together and they would also make a wish that if their Krathongs float well together, then their love would last forever.
On this opportunity, Kathu Phuket Language School wish every student a great time in this festival.
